Heck, yes. My beta circle call ourselves the "Machete Betas." There's a
reason for that. My nitpickiness is a well-honed skill.

Yes, I think so. At least, once people know what it is it's almost
always capitalised. (I think Frodo might say it with a lowercase r near
the beginning of "Shadows of the Past"?
