Viv and I just experimented with her latest nominee button. When I
right-clicked and saved it from how it appears on the Yahoo site, I
got one 400 X 265 pixels.

But when she e-mailed it to me, it was only 106 x 65!

So, if you feel your banner or button doesn't look good on the web
site, consider e-mailing it to me (be sure to identify it by title
and number, such as "lorien #2", so I'll know right away which one it
should be replacing.

Also, I think we are running out of space on the web site. Earthlink
doesn't give us much I guess. I've got a few things I can delete from
there which will help, otherwise, I'll be hosting some of the new
banners and buttons on another site. They'll still show up along
with all the others though. Oh, and to help conserve space, keep the
pics as .jpeg. I recently converted all the .gif banners to .jpg and
that saved a lot of space.

So, Fileg, e-mail me your latest nominee button. It was definitely
blown up by Yahoo. I've shrunk it for the site as it is. But if you
can e-mail it to me and it's small, I'll replace what I've got.

Oh, so maybe that's what happened with mine. Ah well, I just uploaded
some smaller versions. I also saved them as jpgs this time - I was
saving them as gifs before because I thought that made them look
clearer, but then I realised there wasn't really any difference.

I'll probably email my new banners to you Ainae. Would you like me to
zip them (there's six) to make it easier?

I didn't think gifs were much bigger filesize-wise, but they are. General
rule of thumb: jpegs are for photos and the like. Gifs are for line
drawings. Bmps...well there's not a whole lot of reason anymore. And they
are huge in filesize.
