Since the MEFA's were inspired by the Alt.StarTrek.Creative Awards, I've
decided our sample shall be from the Alt.StarTrek.Creative Awards, back when
they used the newsgroup for voting (now they use the web) in 1996.
Once the ballot for any category is posted, you are free to vote on
stories/authors in that category. To do so, you will hit Reply on the
ballot and edit out those stories/authors you are not commenting on. You
will then put your comments under the stories/authors you are commenting on.
You can leave their headers the same as they are (which includes URL's and
summaries), but to make the posts shorter, it would be good if you just
snipped them down to their first 2 lines (1 for those categories without
subcategories), which includes the subcategory, code, title, and author.
The sample you'll see below only shows code, author, story.
Also, note that you can vote on a ballot more than once, just not on the
same story or author (in the same category) more than once. To be sure your
vote counts, try to get your ballot in early of the closing date for that
category. But if you then read another story and want to put a vote in on
it, so long as the category is still open, you may do so. Just don't vote
on the stories you've already voted on (or authors).
This is what a vote will look like when you vote:
(The subject line of your post should be RE: [MEFAwards] *category*
--Official Voting Ballot. If it is not, because you are on daily digest,
please change it for the ease of the vote counters.)
(The body will look like the rest of this post:)
> 25) Gabrielle Lawson
> Debut post: If It's Not One Thing..., DS9
That was her first?! Well, in that case, it was an excellent debut. This
is an excellent example of what fanfic should be in my opinion.

Let's see more with Macedon's wife! In all honesty, I enjoyed this story
much more then I did it's prequel "Orfeo". That's not to say I didn't like
"Orfeo", I just felt that this one set out to be a story. Macedon himself
admitted that "Orfeo" was to be something of an alagory.
