Amnesty Day - was [MEFAwards] Voting Season: Elanor's problems Posted by MarigoldCotton@aol.com September 21, 2004 - 16:31:31 Topic ID# 2069
I for one would really appreciate an Amnesty Day, as over the past month I have had to pack up and move my Mom to Mississippi from L.A., wait to get her phoneline hooked up, unpack, repack because of Hurricane Ivan, and then evacuate for several days, and now I am having to hustle to get ready to move back to England in about a fortnight. Too much RL stuff to get everything done online that I need to do, and when I had *time* to be online it wasn't possible as I had no internet access...

I also thought that we would have longer voting periods, and was quite surprised to see how short they were, which is my own fault as obviously I didn't read something correctly.

I would suggest making the Amnesty period 48 hours and make it clear what time zone you are in, and that will give overseas folks plenty of time to get their voting done. Also, 24 hours is not much time for people that might want to post a lot of votes, what with work, school and other RL issues.

I am certainly going to try to do all of the voting I can during the proper time periods, though.

There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for awhile. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.
