Gondor
MeG1: A Pale Light Lingering by Altariel
Like everything you write, it's beautiful. Poor dear Faramir – this
story always makes me sad. He faces such impossible odds.
Gondor
MeG2: Adrift by Altariel
I reread very little fanfiction (unlike books) but this calls to
me. As a writer I find it terribly depressing – oh to be able to
write like that! – but as a reader I love the family relationships.
If only people would write adult books about families like this.
Gondor
MeG6: Death by Water by Altariel
Another satisfying read. I love both your dialogue and your light
but sure hand with characters.
Gondor
MeG8: Hearth Companions by Alawa
If you only ever read one Original Female Character make this it.
Its another story which could stand on its own merits without the
backing of Lord of the Rings. She is such a believable character
and the whole society is captured and made real in very few words.
Love it.
Gondor
MeG16: Proof by Altariel
I find this bleak but damned well written. It's another story which
makes me shake my head and go poor, poor little Faramir. I commend
it also for its excellent Mablung.
Gondor
MeG20: Stargazers by Henneth Annun Writers (Altariel, Starlight,
Acacea,
Fileg, Chris, Forodwaith)
I enjoy all of these. I like the concept, the way it is done and
the way they all keep their own voice while producing something that
in my opinion reads seamlessly.
Gondor
MeG24: Too Late for Misgivings by Shadow975
Shadown writes fine bleak stuff and this story is no exception. I
love the way she bends and adapts the language and its rules to suit
what she wants to convey.

MeP2: Ascension by Fileg
If I could have but one Tolkien-based fan poem then this would be
it. It has stayed with me ever since I first discovered it. I see
it unfold in my head like a movie and yet I can read two or three
interpretations in most of its lines. I love it all but I think "as
a man
ascends the steps with ashes on his face" is my favourite line.
Maybe it is my religious background that makes it seem so
significant but when I read that line I just get blown away. When I
first read this I hadn't (for twenty years) read Return of the King
so it became my image of Denethor and his death for the year I
waited to read it. I love the form of this poem – and I also love
that it doesn't need to rely on it. You can enjoy it `A sexy young
girl from Bombay…' is the limit of your poetical knowledge.
Poetry
MeP3: Darkness Falls by flick
Another poem you need no knowledge to enjoy – only heart and soul is
required. The words are beautiful and the images well crafted. In
its 400 odd words it sums up more than many a 70, 00 word epic.
It's a poem to revisit and relish.

MeP5: Home by Morning by Fileg
And if I could have two Lord of the Rings based poems then this
would be the second one. It sings itself into your soul and offers
you a universe of pictures. It's about love and loyalty and maybe
about loss. It inspired me enough to make me write a story based
around it, so it has its very own fanfiction. ;-) Who are these
people? It doesn't matter – they are any ranger and his woman you
care to imagine and they are-every-ranger and partner.
Post-WOTR
Me4-1: A Kind of Valediction by Altariel
Not only is it a dead cool title – it's also a dead cool story.
Post-WOTR
Me4-2: Black Captain by Altariel
I hope the world post the Ring war is indeed like this.
Post-WOTR
Me4-3: Fair Game by Altariel
Oh I do like this one! I read it very early – quite out of sequence
and had no idea who these people were, mostly. It didn't matter
though – it stood on its merits alone. I find this view of Faramir
rather sad but I still enjoy the angst (if I may call it that
without upsetting anyone – I don't see it as an insult.)
Post-WOTR
Me4-9: The Unsung by Alexcat
Sad and haunting. I particularly liked this line: "who fought for
a land that they were leaving and a people not their own".
