Nardolgin had trouble sending her ballots, and sent this one to me.
However, as the time stamp shows it was just after midnight on Oct. 1st, it
couldn't be counted at that time. Since she was having trouble, I told her
I would post this for her on Amnesty Day.

Hob4-1: A Crate of Lemons by ShireDweller
This is a great little story with amusing twist. The story line is unique
and engaging, yet simple. Still, it manages to communicate a lot about
Frodo state of mind, the pain he's feeling, and his ability to rise above it
to enjoy some of life's good moments. I love the way the author the handles
the relationship between Frodo and Sam, as well their dialog. Sam's actions
and voice are perfect!

Hob4-9: Garden Plot by ShireDweller
Delightful, engaging, and heartwarming are just a few of the adjectives that
this wonderful story brings to mind. However, they only begin to describe
this tender portrayal of the post-quest relationships among Frodo, Sam, and
Rosie. The story's charm, subtlety, and depth make it one of my most
favorite hobbit fan- fict's. There is no slash, gratuitous lust, or
anything else that would detract from the simple, but deep love that the
three have for each other. The garden setting, with its thorns, tools,
seeds, and every-day chores, provides an ideal backdrop for metaphors of
challenges, working things out, and emotional growth. It also allows the
author to highlighting key elements of their relationships, without over
doing it or losing the reader in complex story lines. The story contains
creative and sometimes humorous imagery that ties nicely in the hobbit
culture and environment.
Sam's and Frodo's characters felt refreshingly familiar. I didn't have to
reshape my mental image of either one. Sam voice's is especially well done!
It is very consistent with his background and upbringing.
HobA23: ShireDweller
ShireDweller is a fantastic hobbit fan-fict author who displays amazing
insight in the circumstances and attitudes of Frodo and Sam, as well as a
solid understanding of hobbit culture, history, and surroundings. She has a
beautiful, flowing style that is engaging and fun to read. I just hope that
she write more.
