HuA2: No Living Man by Elana

This was a lovely idea. I had always wondered why Glorfindel hadnt gone after the Witch-king all those years ago when he was so handy as he wasnt a man. I really like the way the author uses so many characters to give the Witch-king his comeuppance.

Alternate Universe
HuA3: Slightly Muddled by Lindelea
URL: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1305498/1/

As a beta from America living now in Britain, this story made me laugh long and hard! I spend quite a lot of time trying to keep slang, anachronisms, and
inappropriate flora, fauna, and foods out of Middle-earth, and Lindelea hit my major peeves spot on with this! She has a marvelous sense of humour, and knows how to write a funny fic without going overboard.

HuP2: Boromir: The Owner's Guide and Maintenance Manual by Theresa Green

Very funny story&erm, manual! This author has quite a knack for making folks laugh.

Hu4: Frogs by Lindelea

This is a very hobbity story, and the game is wonderful. This is one of those stories that one can imagine actually taking place and I love when that happens! The dialogue is especially enjoyable here, and beneath the humour I could sense the longings of the hobbits to go home. The interaction between all of the characters was very nice, and one can see the deep friendship between them, as well as getting a taste of life in the Shire.

Hu5: It Was A Dark and Stormy by Pearl Took

Rating: G

I usually cringe at OCs but Pearl has done a fantastic job here. I loved her Half-Dwarven characters devotion and care of Pippin because he is wearing the livery of Gondor. I also thought that the way she first brought Merry and Pippin into the story, and then wrote them into a holiday to give them a bit of a break from the way she had been knocking them about in her fics was wonderful. Although they didnt exactly wind up with a trip to the beach, lol!

Hu8: Of Dwarvish Ale and Battle Scars by Aratlithiel
URL: http://www.lightindarkplaces.net/ODAABS.html
Rating: PG-13

There arent that many stories taking place when the Fellowship are safe in Minas Tirith that depict Frodo to my taste, but this one certainly does. He is wonderful in this story, and acts like I think Frodo might actually behave. He is a hobbit after all, and he is allowed to be a hobbit here, and not a sickly, tragic, otherworldly figure. The banter is spot on, and the idea that Frodo took the ale to *protect* Pippin is very funny such a thoughtful and caring older cousin!

Hu16: The Lady's Gift by Pervinca
URL: http://www.storiesofarda.com/chapterlistview.asp?SID=1617
Rating: G

This was a lovely, hobbity idea. Everyone was in character, and I could imagine Pippin actually doing this, egged on by Frodo, and Merry of course, and then when Pippin was found out, Merry sticking with him while he hid and then tried to return Gimlis gift. And this line, when Gimli gives Pippin one of Galadriels hairs for his own: Aye, it was, said Gimli. But I have three, and I only have one Peregrin. What a nice line, and a lovely sentiment.

AUTHORS (remember to comment on the writer as regards to the category, not the story, here):

HuA4: Aratlithiel
Of Dwarvish Ale and Battle Scars

Excellent sense of what is funny, and very good at keeping the humour balanced. Her characterisations and dialogue are very appropriate to each character.

HuA23: Lindelea
Slightly Muddled, Frogs

Lindelea has a wonderful way of writing humour, and can write very sharp, tongue-in-cheek and witty humour as well as very sweet and gentle jesting. She also manages to always keep her characters *in* character even when they are being funny, something not everyone seems able to do, and can maintain it in long stories as well as shorter ones.

HuA25: Pearl Took
It Was A Dark and Stormy

Terrific and witty sense of humour, and a very clever and imaginative scenario. Good ability to balance dark and light.

HuA26: Pervinca
The Lady's Gift

Able to get into a characters head and write believable humourous dialogue.

HuA29: Theresa Green

Witty and funny in a dry way very good at writing tongue-in-cheek.

There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for awhile. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.
