Hob11: Sam's Rose by jodancingtree

I first started reading this back when Jo was first posting it, and I
was struck immediately by Rose's voice - very distinctive and hobbity
and all herself. The troubles of the Shire while the Travellers are
gone are realistic and vivid. Then, after they return and the Shire
is scoured, a new part of the story starts and we learn about Rosie's
relationships with Sam and Frodo. I love when Frodo gets to a point
where he is almost healed - he can even joke about finding his lost
ring - but then he begins his inevitable decline in heartbreaking
fashion. Very poignant at the end. This is one where I can't imagine
it happening any other way now that I've read it. Well done.

I haven't read all of Jo's stories yet, but I've enjoyed every one
I've read. She can really capture hobbits - she gets inside their
heads and lets you see the world though their eyes. I look forward to
reading the rest of her stories and her future work.
