I researched this on the site before asking, and am still confused.

Just what do we do with the banners? Are they assigned to particular stories
somehow?

Just call me technologically challenged.

Okay, I have made a web page that just shows the winners.

However! We are going to add something to them to show what category and
place they were for. For example, the Lothlorien Award banners just says
MEFA, 2004, and The Lothlorien Award. An outsider wouldn't know it's for
Elves fiction or that it's 1st place.

Here's a question though: What do we do for subcategories? Do we make copies
of each banner and put the bar on the bottom that says "Elves Drabble" and
on another one "Elves Vignette"...? Or do we just leave it at Elves?

I will leave whether or not to make awards reflect a specific category up to others, as I don't know the amount of work or space that would take, but I would like to see the Author Awards labeled as such, as that is a bit of a different sort of honour I think...

There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for awhile. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.

I kind of like the idea of adding the sub category, but then, I'm not the one
doing them...*grin*

I think that if there were subcategories in the awards, there should be
subcategories in the banners. Which raises the question: how small a font
can a normal human possibly read? LOL!

Great job on the awards, Ainae! And my congratulations and respects to all
the terrific authors who wrote such fine stories!

I agree - although it would be a massive amount
of work on top of what must have already been a
massive amount of work! But it would be nice to
be able to see exactly what each banner was for!

That's the way Viv is making them, so we're heading that direction.

I don't know how much I'll be around today. Remember that nail in my foot?
Well, my foot's doing great. My chest, however, is not. Starting hurting
last night and was very bad by this 4:30 this morning. Ask-A-Nurse said go
to the emergency room, so I was back. I really think I'ts the antibiotics.
As I had just taken them before I went to bed. Well, I was sent home after
a bit (and after the pain died down) and slept fitfully the rest of the
night. I have an appointment at noon with my regular doctor (Where the
co-pay is just $15 instead of $50--this weekend has been expensive.) and I
just took another dose of the antibiotics--with a lot of water, as the ER
docs said I should. So far, the hint of pain I went to bed with has moved
up to, yes, it does hurt. So we shall see.

I'm beginning to be very afraid of antibiotics.

Well, if I'm not around, that's why. I'll be back when I can.

Take a look at the Rules. They are both explained. Sock puppets are fake
accounts used to vote in the awards and that makes up vote stacking.
Pretending to be two different voters so you can vote on the same story
twice, thus adding to its points, etc. is cheating.
