Well, I was going to wait until I got all 2000 comments ready, but I figured
I'd go ahead and put up what I have. So, if we sort the stories
alphabetically by category and then subcategory, Adventure comes first, etc.
The first 144 stories (starting with Adventure and going through Crossovers
and Drama to Elves/Drabble) have been posted. No author comments yet. I'll
work on those after I finish all the story comments.

and I went with the very simple "No comments" for stories that didn't get
comments.

WOW...that's great! Just an fyi, I tried it in firefox and it doesn't read the
html right, so you have to use internet explorer for the page...

Also, Ainae, you might want to just kill me. But the quote from Marta under
With Hope should really go under Wind and Fire. I double checked, the points
got put in the right place, I just copied the comments into the wrong cell...

Quick note: Tried clicking stories I knew were in Crossover or
Elves/Drabble: no comments. In Mozilla (Mac versiion 1.01) nothing
loads; in IE 5.0 (Mac), a page loads, but it turns out to be the same
message: no comments yet.

Is there a specific story w/comments we could all go test and see
whose browsers are having trouble?

I could only get them to work in IE. (I'm not sure if Mozilla, Firefox, and
Netscape read those anchors/targets type commands)

I went to look at mine just before, and all mine
except for the last of them works!

So try going to Naresha - Lament to Lorien or So
Close, Yet Forever Away. They both worked for
me. (I'm on IE 6.1 - non-mac)

I don't know about Firefox, but it should work with Netscape, too. Frames
is the thing. The most advanced HTML I actually know, and it's not all that
advanced. ;-)

No killing necessary. It's an easy fix since I use mail merge. Just cut and
paste. It will be fixed on the next merge and upload.

Yeah, different browsers accept different commands and it can be tricky to
write them for both IE and Netscape. Mozilla is akin to Netscape, I believe.


So IE is probably the best bet. I'll add a note to that extent in the next
upload.

Feeling dumb. I have to scroll a lot to see anything, but apparently I
can get to all the comments in the main window. It just doesn't look
like it. I don't know if I still have a problem--should clicking on a
story name take me down to the space where the story's comments are,
or does it just pull up a general comments page?

I tried them again in all of my browsers and IE was the only one that worked.

Maybe it's something silly like...emptying your history and temp files? (That's
my default first solution...heh.)

And yes, you just click on the story name and the comments should show in the
right side frame.

Maybe you could just do a 'find in page' thing if you wanted to see a specific
story?

because the # anchor seems not to work
as far as I can see.
Thus, one has to scroll around in the main page.

As only the story title and not the author's name
is given, Mozilla is in principle not usable
to search in the main page for all stories of one author.
For now one finds only those comments which
use Khylea's name within the comment.

Perhaps Ainaechoiriel could add the author's name
in front of the title, then Mozilla users could search
the main page for the author's name.

Mozilla 1.6 sees a ##A11 anchor in the main page,
while the left hand frame calls a #A11 anchor
for Khylea's "To save a Hobbit".
Why Mozilla sees something other than Microsoft IE
I cannot fathom.

Okay, I think I may have found the issue. I'ts been a LONG time since I used
internal page links. I think I don't need the # in the anchor on the page,
just in the link to it.
