the site it's on shows it was posted after that date, save it for next year.

Um, wait -- if a story was posted serially, and the posting BEGAN on or
before March 31, isn't it eligible? What's on the web site will be only the
latest update date, which might be after March 31... or am I missing
something here?

Yes, I think so. A one-shot obviously would have to be posted by March
31st. For a multi-part, I think just the first part has to be posted by
March 31st. The one exception is a serial that was nominated as a WIP
last year. In this case, it has to be *completed* by March 31st, so the
final part would have to be posted by that date.

Indeed, this morning I had to withdraw a story that was first
published this Saturday. It was a short story as well. No completed
WIP, unfortunately.
