new database Posted by Marta Layton April 17, 2005 - 21:17:48 Topic ID# 3925
Hi guys,

I've created a new database at the Yahoo group: Finalized 2005
Nominations. These are stories that Ainae has posted to the list as
being completed; they're ones where the author has approved and are
ready to go.

So if you want to know whether a nomination you've made is final, or if
we're still waiting on something, check this database.

What if you have things folks nominated for you, you checked and
approved the nominations, wrote in your approval in the little box and
they still are listed as incomplete (for nearly a week now)? Did I miss
a step?

Hi Ariel,

I'm not sure what's happening with that. I'm going to forward your
email to the staff list, and will try to have an answer for you ASAP.

Hi Marta,

When I log onto the site, I see my story, "The Terror of Buckland,"
marked as completed. Yet I just went through the database and it's
not in there. I'm wondering if the fact that there is another story
nominated with the same name (by Aratlithiel)is causing some
confusion?

thanks,
Kathy

Hi,

I noticed that with one of my entries too. Raven and Gold is listed
as completed but not in the database.

Re: new database Posted by Marta Layton April 18, 2005 - 7:02:12 Topic ID# 3925
Hi Kathy and Acacea,

It's easiest for me to enter the information once Ainae posts the
finished nominations to the list each day. I know those stories are
finished, and it keeps me from having to search through the website for
stories that have recently been finished.

So I'm going to sit on these emails for a day or two. If they don't
show up in one of Ainae's lists of finished nomination,, I'll assume I
made a mistake earlier and I'll go add them to the database; otherwise
I'll probably end up entering them twice. :-)

Thanks for letting me know! If anyone catches any other ones that are
missing from the database let me know. It would make it easiest for me
if you could provide the following information

Story ID #
Story Author
Story Title
Story Rating
Story Nominator
First choice for category (along with a mandatory subcategory, if
applicable - drabble, WIP, poetry)

If you don't know this information I'll look it up on the website, but
providing it makes my life simpler.

Probably because I didn't send a list to the group over the weekend. Let me
get caught up this morning and I'll get one out.

Always the most up-to-date place on what is completed is the MEFA2005 site.
Marta is just updating the other as a convenience. Thanks, Marta. And also
for the list of viable categories!

OK, Marta, thanks for keeping an eye on it. BTW I just checked
Ainae's latest noms and it's not there either (although a story I
just nominated on Friday is!) I'm probably just being paranoid, but
my worry is that because there are two "Terrors" people will see one
and think they've already entered/read/voted on the other.

In case you need this, here are the story's stats:

Story ID #: 687
Story Author: Inkling
Story Title: The Terror of Buckland
Story Rating: PG
Story Nominator: Ariel
First choice for category: Hobbits

Thanks again for all your work,
Kathy

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for pointing this out. I might have missed entering it. Or else
I sorted by title and spot-checked for duplicates, and deleted your
story thinking it was the same story as the other "Terror".

Anyway, it's now in the database.
