Warning about fake yahoogroups monitor (sorry for cross-posting) Posted by BLJean@aol.com May 17, 2005 - 9:14:30 Topic ID# 4278
I don't know if this is "real" or not but it sounds malicious enough to be
"real". Sorry for cross-posting, but I belong to several yahoogroups. I usually
check out such warnings before passing them on, but I have to sign off now!

Interesting ...

I did a bit of googling but I can't discern whether it's a real
problem or not. At least one website, "Scifi Noir", claims it
happened to them, though they seem to think Yahoo itself did the
deletion. However, from what I've found, there IS no such thing as a
Yahoo Community Monitor. So if anyone is doing this, they are indeed
fakes.

The other curious thing is that the same story was apparently making
the rounds in 2002, as I found refences to it, then. An Urban Legend
website made note but apparently was unable to confirm whether it was
real or a hoax.

Weird.

Cheers ~

Erin
