New updates are on the way. When they're installed, you'll see the
changes I mention below.
Filters and new windows.
There's not really a way to save the state of the page, as some have
requested. (Well, I'm sure there is a way, but I won't be figuring it
out anytime soon. Too much work!) I have updated the links to reviews
(and author reviews, when checkballots season is over) so that they
will open in new windows. As mentioned, if you have FireFox (or another
tabbed browser), you can just ctrl-click (or command-click on Mac) to
open a new tab. Ctrl-clicking should open a new window in IE, as well.
When you're done with the review, just close the window, and you're
back at the page where you started, with your filters intact.
Even if I did save the filters, re-loading the page would be much
slower than just closing a window, so it really is probably faster this
way, as well, and will save Ainae some bandwidth, too.
Seasons:
I added a link in the title bar to a new seasons page. It just tells
when the seasons start/end, and gives some information. If someone can
write up some text to go with each season, I'll add it. I will also try
to remember to add a link here to wherever seasons is mentioned in the
FAQ. By the way, the codes at the top are for which seasons are
currently active.
Check Ballots Season;
By the way, Check Ballots season is for the admins and helpers to
'check over the ballots' and make sure all the categories are viable,
kill those that are not and re-distribute the stories to other viable
categories, etc. This does not affect the reviews/votes that you have
been entering, and will not. The vote goes with the story, and doesn't
really care what category the story is in.
If anybody has submitted reviews for duplicate stories that have been
withdrawn, let me know, and I can move those stories over to the active
story. Right now, there are about 10 reviews on withdrawn stories. I'll
probably just send them via email to the reviewer, and they can check
to see if it was a duplicate, or if it was just withdrawn for some
other reason. (Not tonight, though.)
Since Author Reviews do depend on categories, the system can't start
accepting them until CheckBallots season is over, so you'll have to
hang onto them for a couple more weeks.
