Yay! I finished reviewing a whole category! Posted by aelfwina@cableone.net June 19, 2005 - 12:44:37 Topic ID# 4900
Yay! I have 170 reviews done now, and best of all, I have completely finished tentative reviews for the entire R/P:Hobbits category!!!

And now I think I need to rest my eyes and get some lunch!

*raises hand*

I think I've managed fifty now... I get in moods where I do a lot,
and then other days I just sort of wander around trying to deal with
real life...

Congrats! I'm hoping I'll finish Post-Ring War tonight.

You what boggles my mind? Unless I'm misremembering, I think I've
already done almost half as many reviews as I did for the whole awards
last year. And that's just one category plus my own nominations! I
think Ainae said the number of competing stories doubled, but the
factor of increase for reviewing seems likely to trace an exponential
curve...

I've noticed that, too, actually. Do you supopse there is a mathematical relationship between the two numbers? *whips out the graphing calculator* So if we take the integral of the function describing the change in the number of nominations from last year to the present year, will we get the function describing the change in the number of reviews in that same time frame? Or is this going to vary from person to person? Do some have a more linear relationship? Am I completely out of my depth by trying to apply calculus to the MEFA Awards? Should I just shut up and go back to reviewing now?

...

*bows to the greatness of Dwim and Dreamflower for their tireless reviewing efforts* I finished off Horror and Mystery. They're full categories, albeit small ones. Do I get a cookie? :)

Feeling a bit strange today,
Thundera

What boggles *me* is that last year, it was all I could do to get in maybe half a dozen reviews. This open way of reading and reviewing made possible by the web site is marvelous. I was able to start as soon as the nominations began. Last year with the seasons for each category being so short, I knew I could never keep up, and so didn't even try. The great thing with this, is that if I *don't* get a chance to go back in to finalize a review, by it being tentative, it will still count in the end.

I'm enjoying this immensely.

Don't even talk about things like that. I'm a math major and things
like that still frighten the bejeezus out of me.

If so, so am I. I love the number-crunching aspect of things.

Nah, but I can put one on your computer if you like. :-)

Seriously, well done.
