Re: invalid links Fw: Orc Sign Posted by Ainaechoiriel July 10, 2005 - 23:21:24 Topic ID# 4934Then we have a problem. We can't post three different links to a story. It
has to be easy for a voter to find the next chapter, etc. This is exactly
why I've outlawed the Tolkien Online archive. This is also why I have begun
to think that we should not allow LiveJournal posts. Yes, I realize that
seems drastic to some and many LiveJournal stories are easy enough to
navigate. But this is a problem that must be addressed. As it stands, next
year, a story must be easily navigable or it will be disallowed. If an
Author Liaison can't find the story or can't find the next chapter to a
story, it will not be approved. I'm not talking about archive sites being
down for maintenance and if we can't find a story, we will ask the Author
for another URL. But situations like this one where there are no links from
Chapter 1 to Chapter 2, etc., will be cause for Withdrawal.
Think about that when you nominate a story. We aren't an archive so we
can't dictate how stories are posted. But we can decide what we will allow
and what we won't.
As for this story, can anyone find a better link? One to the whole story?
If someone is really adamant that this story still stay in the awards and
everything and easy solution is to build a small web page with these three
links on it. Then we can use the URL of that web page as the URL for the
story.
