Well, I started early. And a lot of the stories I've reviewed, I've read already fairly recently, and did not need to re-read. But things are slowing down now that I'm getting to stories that I've never read or that it's been a while and I need to refresh my memory.

Perhaps there ought to be an award for most reviews!

One idea I had a while back was coming up with banners to recognise
different "levels" of reviewing. If you cast a certain number of votes,
or you vote for a certain number of entries, or what-not, you get to
use a certain banner, and when you reach the next level you get a
different banner, etc. I was envisioning something similar to the
banners I have seen used in conjunction with Marigold's challenges.
Mari, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't your authors get to use one LJ
icon when they have written a certain number of stories, a different
icon when they reach the next level, and so-on? This idea would be a
non-competitive way to recognise prolific reviewers.
Another option might be to do it using percentages. The top award goes
to the top 10% of reviewers, thee second level goes to the top 25%, and
the third level to the top 50%. Under this scheme, if fifty people
casted votes, then the five who cast the most votes would get the first
level. The next 7 (25% of 50 = 12 - 5 at previous level) would get to
use the second level award banner, and the thirteen after that would
get to use the third level of banner. The more people who vote the more
people at each award level. Capische?
These are definitely things worth thinking about. I'm all for anything
that gets people to cast more votes.

There are also reward icons for reviewers, beginning at 25 reviews and going up from there.
Here is the link to the Challenge Reward site if anyone wants to take a look. Disregard the instructions for claiming an icon or banner, as I trust folks to just take what they are entitled to.

There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty forever beyond its reach.
