Nicely done, using all original characters. Some confusion when different
speakers are in the same paragraph, but things clear up. A hobbit betrothal,
with attendant misadventures.

I rather like the last verse, with its implications that something of Frodo,

I'd imagine there would be a definite anti-Men sentiment after the ruffians,

painful. I liked the reconciliation at the end.

Anyone who is at all familiar with Tyellas' work knows that she is a master
at writing elves. She proved this to me once again when I re-read her piece
"The Sting", where she captures the heart of Maeglin beautifully. And here
in Pengolod she certainly gets at a less sinister side of Elven character
(i.e., Pengolod's curiosity and how immortality affects his sense of timing.
But what I really admire here is how she writes Men. Soup is brilliant, as
is Aelfwine; they are so delightfully earthy and have their own neat quirks.
Aelfwine's being mamed and the associated physical limitations, and Soup's
impetuousness and his embarrassment, to name a few such things.

But what I really like are the cultural details, specifically the ones about
how the Numenoreans reacted to having an elf about. To give one example,
there's the whole thing with the men from Armenelos not wearing a beard
because they wanted to look like an elf. This makes sense when the king
favoured elves. But then to dress Pengolod so he oculd pass for one of the
King's Men if his ears didn't show... it was, to be frank, perfectly
brilliant. These are the kinds of details that really made this piece for
me. (Though the flashbacks to Gondeolin were excellent as well.)

A very useful, cinematic gift. It must be difficult as immortals, especially
such wandering immortals as Celeborn and Galadriel, to have places to store
all the mementoes of past experience. And Legolas is a worthy recipient of
this last remnant of Doriath.

This is probably the best parody that I have ever read. It brings all the
problems of Aragorn/Legolas slash to the forefront, and makes them funny.
But what really got me was the first paragraph about Elrond's outfit. That
had me cracking up, possibly because I have read too many stories where the
outfit got more characterisation than the man/elf/hobbit/whatever wearing
them. And as if I wasn't laughing hard enough, those foot-notes... well,
after reading this I think that Tyellas should definitely write more humour.

Another fabulous look into Elvish culture in the moments in-between. The
power dynamics between Celeborn and Celebrimbor were nicely told here, as
was Celebrian's infatuation with horses and Celeborn's uneasiness and even
outright disdain for Annatar (to say nothing of the fact that the male maia
was Celebrimbor's lover). And the naugrim and Celeborn's uneasiness around
them was a nice touch. You did a nice job of developing a completely
believable world, and Celeborn's characterisation was just as I would
imagine him throughout.

This was great fun. I think my favourite part was where Glorfindel and
Elrond tried to find companionship for Gil-galad at the very start, though
Glorfindel's thoughts on waking the next morning were nice, too. And not
that I've spent a lot of time drunk ro around intoxicated people, but you
captured that rather nicely. All in all this fic moved along at a good speed
and had that right combination of moving the plot along versus racing
through so fast there's not time for the good jokes. It makes me want to go
read "Faint".

This is a neat piece. I always wondered how it was that Pippin came by its
scarf, since it's the only knitted piece I can ever remember seeing on any
hobbit in the movies. (There are enough sheep in many scenes throughout the
movies that I can easily imagine knowledge of knitting being a bit
common-place in Middle-earth in general, and to my knowledge Tolkien never
wrote anything to contradict this.) Frodo's caring nature for Pippin and
Merry's joshing him are just what I would imagine given that Frodo spent
most of Merry's early childhood living in Brandy Hall, and given the age
difference (twenty-one years!) between Frodo and Pippin. All in all this
piece was very well done.

Oh, this is an absolutely gorgeous idea! I know that every time I hae lost a
family member (as an adult, since I've been old enough to do so) I have
planted a flower of a color and type that symbolised what I remembered about
them. It's a beautiful tradition in my opinion, and one that I can see
having even more of an importance in Middle-earth. Even more especially in
Minas Tirith than in most places: I see Minas Tirith as a place where
craftsmen and soldiers and healers would live, perhaps people who had grown
up in the more rural parts of the rest of Gondor. Those people would have a
great love of growing things, and I think they'd find a way to express that
somehow or other. What better time than in memory of the dead? The whole
custom reminds me of when the families of soldiers would hang yellow ribbons
for their loved ones in the military. (Not necessarily for the dead, but I
think the idea is the same.) There are other things I liked about this. The
nice salute to Aeneid's work for example in the name of the tavern, and the
different types of flowers you mentioned at the beginning. But my favourite
thing is definitely the overall concept of remembering death with life.
