Another of this author's tales chronicling the relationship between Pippin
as Thain, and his cousin and chief bodyguard, Ferdibrand. In this story, it
is Pippin who does the saving, at considerable risk to himself. It's amazing
how, even knowing ahead of time that it will turn out all right, there is so
much suspense.

loneliness in being away from his family, and his delight in seeing his good
friend the Dunadan.

Oh my goodness! What a long and wonderful read! I normally only read
hobbit-fic, although of course this did have Bilbo in it, but even the focus
on Elves was not enough to turn away my interest. Of course, like any
gap-filler, I knew the ultimate outcome, but the author managed to make me
forget that half the time, and cause me to worry about the survival of
characters that I *knew* would survive. The pacing was tense, and swept me
along, and the mix of humor and drama and action was masterful. I also loved
the natural weaving of canon quotes into the story. Very well done!

I do love stories where little Estel meets Bilbo on his Adventure. This was
so sweet and cute. I adored the child's inquisitive nature, and Bilbo's
wistful homesickness as he described his hole. And the question at the end
was lovely. I'd love to see a sequel where Estel attempts to sneak along
with the dwarves!

wonderful. I love the OCs, and the deep love and loyalty between Thranduil

Bilbo's return during the auction as they were selling off his goods is
quite a shock to the hobbit. I love the way he really is so very hobbity in

What Bilbo's unexpected Party, with thirteen dwarves and a wizard might have
looked like to a nosy neighbor! The POV character is never named or
identified, but he (or she) is clearly a very typical narrow minded hobbit.
The whole story is amusing, and very well done, a gap-filler of sorts for
The Hobbit.

I wonder if Finduilas shared this wisdom with her sister-in-law. It would
certainly explain the three sons of Imrahil! It does seem like the children
of Adrahil had an awful lot of sons, proportionately speaking. Four out of
five. But regardless Finduilas's concern and willingness to do her duty was
touching. this was a very nice moment shared between the two women.
