Hey all,
I've been reading the posts today about incomplete stories and final
reviews, and one thing stood out.
Ainae said that ASC does allow one to revise a vote.
That said, I could enable editing of final reviews.
It would change the meaning of Final to 'Visible'.
It would solve many of these problems, but would also bring up a couple
of new ones.
Mostly, people would need to refrain from abusing it and editing
reviews just because they feel like it, or their favorite story is
behind in the voting.
The way it is coded, if someone updates a review, and you've already
marked that review, it changes the 'datefinal' so the review will show
up in your list of unread reviews, and you get to read it again, so
that's not even a problem.
Anthony the programmer says: Enabling editing of reviews is by far the
easiest solution. I could have it ready today.
Anything else either requires me to go dig through the database and
edit things by hand or to add a bunch of code to allow the admins to
edit all reviews easily.
BTW, I'm trying to get a way for you to easily read/review/edit all
your own reviews. I just haven't had much time to work on it lately.

Anthony

I wouldn't agree with allowing edits of final votes - except in the
case of the few WIPs that complete during voting season. Is that
possible? - even if it has to be done manually? I can't imagine it
would be very many.

Okay, now I'm not suggesting this be done this
year, but would it be possible to say limit the
revising of reviews? That way people have the
possibility of fixing a final review for things
like WIPS that become Completeds but it would
help limit the abuse because they could only
change things once? I'm sure it's all absurdly
complicated in terms of coding etc, but I thought
I'd be annoying and suggest it anyway!

Hey guys,
Some of you may have noticed that if you edit a final review that is
already visible it will disappear and reappear when the next week of
reviews are released that Friday. If you have alreadymarekd it as read
it will still appear with the unread reviews because of the way the
system marks reviews.
So if you see a review and then it disappears, it may be that.
However, if you think something is wrong with the website or you have
any concerns about the awards, please don't hesitate to email me at
mefasupport(at)gmail(dot)com. Or just post here, and we'll look into it.
Also: you only have a few weeks left to edit your final reviews.
Beginning 9/1 all changes to reviews will have to be done by a
volunteer. (Remember all our days begin and end based on GMT; see the
time stamp at the bottom of any site page for the official MEFA time.)
In past years I have only made changes in case of errors like
submitting a review before you were finished typing or accidentally
entering it for the wrong story. If you think you will want to change
the story review *please* make its status either Draft or Hidden.
Hidden reviews are not visible to the public and can continue to be
edited through the end of voting. Draft reviews are not counted unless
you change them to Hidden or Final before the end of voting.
