A big thank you to everyone involved in the MEFAs Posted by Liz October 03, 2005 - 4:11:16 Topic ID# 5597Hi All
I'd like to thank everyone who helped run the MEFAs - all the author
liaisons, categorisers, and others working "behind the scenes", and
especially Ainae, Sulriel and Marta for all their efforts to keep the
awards running smoothly.
I'd also particularly like to thank Anthony for all his efforts in
developing and refining the nomination and voting site. I think this
was a truly spectacular move forward for the awards, since it made
voting so very much easier, especially for the somewhat disorganised
like myself.
And I'd like the thank everyone who voted -- not just for my stories
(although those reviews have been much appreciated!) but anyone who
cast a vote. Without that effort, these awards would not be
successful.
I'd particularly like to give an "honorable mention" to Thundera
Tiger, whose beautifully crafted reviews were such an inspiration to
me in how to write a review: she was the person, more than anyone,
that made me get off my backside and begin reviewing!
Finally, I'd like to thank all those authors who provided me with such
reading pleasure. Having reviewed all the stories I nominated and then
stories I would have nominated but someone beat me to it, I went in
search of stories which had not yet been reviewed to see what gems I
could discover that should not languish unreviewed. This took me a
long way out of my normal reading habits, but I was thrilled to
discover some great works by authors new to me. I think this is
entirely in the spirit of the MEFAs, has certainly enriched my
experience of the awards, and is a tactic I definitely plan to repeat
next year.
Cheers, Liz

Re: A big thank you to everyone involved in the MEFAs Posted by Laura October 03, 2005 - 10:59:13 Topic ID# 5597Ditto on what Liz said, and I'm only sorry that I was beaten to it. ;) Ainae, Marta, Sulriel, Anthony, and everyone over on the staff group, THANK YOU! I have found some amazing stories via these awards that I would have never found otherwise. I've got a host of new authors and stories that I need to follow now, and that makes me very, very happy. Thank you, again!
And Liz, many thanks for the "honorable mention" and I'm glad my reviews were well-received. They were a pleasure to give.
