Banners and bulk mail Posted by Larian Elensar October 22, 2005 - 17:37:37 Topic ID# 5798
Hate to be a pain, but I just read that some of the banners got sent to bulk
mail folders...and I never look at my bulk mail, I just delete it, so is there
somewhere I can go to grab the banner? (It was Luthien/Beren, Romance 2nd
place, sub category elves).

Or do they need to be sent?

Thanks,

Hi Larian,

So far I have sent two emails. One was to all the people who had
stories nominated, instructing them that voting was now closed,
thanking them for their participation, and telling them how to read the
comments. The second email was to all the authors whose works won an a
certain award or an honourable mention, telling them what categories
they had won. In the second email I said that banners would be
available soon and I would send out a third email when they were ready
for the winning authors.

When the banners are ready for download, they'll be put on a website. I
assume the website with all of the MEFA information
(home.earthlink.net/~ainae/mefa/ ) and also the voting website. When
they're available, it will just be a matter of going to the website,
downloading the image, and using it where you like. I'll also post to
this group when those banners are ready, and where they are.

In the interests of Ainae's bandwidth it's a good idea to download the
image and post it somewhere else designed for image sharing instead of
just linking to the file on Ainae's server. http://www.photobucket.com/
is a good such site.

Cheers,
Marta

Oh! okay, I thought you'd sent banners out already. And yes, I always move
images to my own server :D

N/p! No, I won't be actually emailing the images. I don't know how
large they are, but I'd rather not tie up anyone's email space and
think it's better to give them a link to download.

Cheers,
Marta

Around, give and take: 64 to 70 Kb (I tried to keep them small). But I
am sorry, I finished all of them late into Friday night (roughly about
883 in total), but my back seized yesterday, forcing me to take
absolute rest. I'll try to get them to Ainae today. I had no clue
Marta send out an e-mail announcing them and that they would be
available so soon.

So sorry to keep you all waiting.

Oh my goodness, I'm not surprised your back seized after working on
883 banners! I hope it feels better soon!

I don't think Marta meant to imply in her e-mail that the banners
would be available "immediately" but when all the people involved in
making them available - especially you - had a chance to get them out.

No need to apologise on my part. I am impressed with the speed with
which you have done this!

Thanks again to everyone involved in running the MEFAs, especially
Rhapsody for the banners and Marta for the considerable time she must
have spent on compiling and sending so many e-mails.

Cheers, Liz

:-( I never saw any of them... and my bulk mail
folder empties daily without me ever touching it.
Sorry about that...

Could you re-send the mails, Marta?

BTW, thank you everyone who sent me feedback and
reviews on my stories, and thanks to the nominators.
I truly do appreciate them all!

Blessings,
Jasta

Hi Rhapsody,

Okay, that's not so large for most people. A few people had enough
banners that it could be prohibitive, and sending out emails that
explain how to download from the website will be quicker for me.

Poor you! Yes, take your time.

Don't worry about it. IIRC I told people that they should be ready in a
week or two, to forestall questions about when the banners would be
ready. I really don't think anyone was expecting them yet.

Thanks for all your hard work - it's very appreciated.

No problem, Jasta.

I replied to this message but changed the address to your personal one.
In that email I copied the texts of the two emails into it. They're
short. So look for that, and let me know if you don't receive it.

Cheers,
Marta
