Oops, another eligibility question Posted by BLJean@aol.com April 21, 2006 - 20:33:37 Topic ID# 6892I spoke too soon. I just went to the links below and found that, as you said
but I didn't read, properly, that they are FAQs, rather than lists of stories.
So when someone is nominating, do they have to go to the 2004 awards, look up
the story to see if it's there, then go to the 2005 awards, look up the story
to see if it's there, and then go ahead with the nomination if they don't
find it?
If so, are there links to both the databases, somewhere, in some FAQ for
nominating, so the nominators can do this?
Or is there some sort of master list of stories that have already competed
and aren't eligible?
Thanks,
Lin

Re: Oops, another eligibility question Posted by elliska67 April 22, 2006 - 16:12:18 Topic ID# 6892Hi. Click on the "Database" link in the left frame of this yahoo
group. Once you get to that page, there are two links--Ineligible
Incomplete Works and Ineligible Complete Works. Those are the lists
of works that have competed as incomplete or complete before and are
therefore ineligible this year. Hope this helps. :-)

Re: Oops, another eligibility question Posted by Marta Layton April 23, 2006 - 15:42:20 Topic ID# 6892Hi Lin,
what you do:
1. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MEFAwards/database/ (you may be asked
to log in).
2. Click on "Ineligible Complete Works".
3. Type in the name of the author.
4. Look at the stories listed. These are the stories by that author who have
been nominated in previous years as complete stories, and so can't be
nominated again in 2006.
You can do the same thing for incomplete stories, just click on "Ineligible
Incomplete Works" in step two above.
---------------
Q: How do I know what stories have been nominated in the past?
A: We keep databases at the MEFAwards Yahoo group of all the stories that
have already been nominated. To check these:
Clicking on "Ineligible Incomplete Stories" at step 2 above will give you
the database of stories previously nominated as WIPs. These stories are not
eligible again until they have been completed.
You can only see these databases if you have access to the web-only features
of the Yahoo groups such as the polls. If you do not have this access you
can also view previous years' nominations at:
For 2004: http://gabrielle.sytes.net/mefa/Authnoms.html
For 2005: http://gabrielle.sytes.net/MEFA2005
When in doubt you can also email the awards administrators at
mefasupport@gmail.com .

Hope that answers your question.
