Helpful FAQs about Reviewing Posted by aure\_enteluva August 18, 2007 - 23:19:15 Topic ID# 8153
Hey guys,

Check ballots season ended a few days ago on August 15. This means
that stories are set in the categories and sub-categories they will be
competing. The one exception to this is works-in-progress; if they're
finished before the end of the awards, they'll be moved to a
subcategory for completed stories. But for the most part, what you see
on our website is where stories will stay for the better part of these
awards.

What happens now? Basially we all go off and review until the end of
December. You could have started reviewing before, but now there
really won't be any distractions from reviewing.

If you haven't begun reviewing yet, I recommend you go ahead and
start. You still have months, but you also don't want to leave this
until the last second. If you think having a "plan" would help you,
there are some (hopefully) helpful reviewing strategies from previous
years' voters, posted at

www.mefawards.net/MEFA2007/index.php?page=FAQreviewing

Two deadlines to keep in mind:

SEPTEMBER 30. This is the last date you can edit your final review.
Final reviews will be visible to anyone at www.mefawards.net/MEFA2007/
beginning October 1.

DECEMBER 30. This is the last day to enter reviews. It's also the last
day to edit any hidden reviews you've already entered. If you have a
draft review you'd like to be counted, you MUST change its status to
either hidden or final by this date. All hidden and final reviews will
be visible to anyone after December 30.

There are several FAQs about voting. Find them at:

Of particular interest:

--- How do I find a story to vote for?

--- How are votes scored?

--- Can I use the same vote more than once?

--- Can I include quotes?

--- Can I be critical in my reviews?

(Semantic note: I have used the word review and vote interchangeably.
The two words are really synonymous in the context of these awards.)

I think that's it! If you have any questions, feel free to ask them
here or by emailing me at mefasupport@gmail.com. Otherwise, happy
reviewing.
