I seem to have run afoul of the MEFA 2009 website. I want to nominate a story by Mirien. She's not listed on the site's member/author list (I looked manually, and also used the Search feature and couldn't find her), but when I try to add her using the Add New Author entry function, I keep getting an error message saying "The user name chosen by you is already being used by another user. Please select another user name." Can anyone help me figure out what's going on here, and how to get her added to the database to I can nominate her story?

Hi Ithilwen,
A possible problem could be that she has another pen name attached to that
email address. What is her email address (you can mail it to me at
techsupport@mefawards.net if it's not a publicly known address).

I just got an email from Mirien, who says she's still a member of the MEFA Yahoo Group. (Her email address is jenATyellowspoonDOTcoDOTuk.) Could that be the problem?

Hi Ithilwen,
That email address is currently attached to the author name "Erin's
Daughter". If she would rather compete as "Mirien", she will need to change
that on the MEFA site (and she should also let me know if she changes her
name, so I can create a cross-reference in the archive between "Erin's
Daughter" and "Mirien").

Well, that's a simple explanation! Thanks, Aranel. I've emailed Mirien to ask her which name she'd like to compete under, and will let you know if any cross-referencing turns out to be necessary.
